I am currently using smooth terracotta clay, glazed with a white tin glaze and fired to 1260°C. I fire my work this high as I like the rich chocolate colours of the clay and also the way the glaze reacts with the iron in the clay!

It is all handbuilt using thin slabs and has either screw heads or zips pressed into the seams for decoration.
